By choosing to continue taking French in grade 9, you have proven that you are "smarter than the average bear". There is lots of research that shows that learning a second language not only gives you valuable skills for the "real" world outside school, but it also helps develop your brain... it can make you smarter! So well done!

Unité 7: On fait les magasins .
Most of the concepts in this unit have already been seen and practiced through the plays "Salut mon ami!" (Fr 8) and "Veux-tu danser?" (Fr9) so this should seem easy to you. If it isn't, get some extra help at lunch or after school as soon as possible!
Vocabulary theme: Shopping and clothes.
Verbs: aller (review); acheter & préférer; regular ~re verbs.
Grammar: Évaluation le jeudi 10 décembre 2015
- the future (aller + infinitive);
- à + le/la/les (= to/at the);
- adjectives: spelling changes & placement (BAGS) This is hard... practice and review.

Chapitre 8: On fait les courses.
Food, glorious food! C'est un chapitre à-propos de la bonne bouffe française.
- Vocabulaire: foods and food shops; expressions of quantity.
- Verbes: vouloir, pouvoir.
- Structure: partitive articles (du, de la, de l', des); comparisons using adjectives.
- Tâche finale: Un sandwich dégoutant... ou formidable!
SANDWICH PROJECT! due date TBA but will be near the end of the semester!

Unité 6: Tu viens d'où? Where are you from?
Vocabulary: countries and nationalities; professions; seasons and the weather.
Verbs (new ones): venir, faire.
Grammar: de + definate articles (du, de la, de l, des); forming questions; quel (and its variations); negative sentences.
